A 43 year old Japanese woman was jailed today for murdering her husband…her on-line husband.

MapleStory Online When the 43 year old music teacher realized her on-line husband had divorced her in the MMORPG MapleStory, she then proceeded to login under his name and password and delete his character. When the man had realized his on-line character had been deleted he proceeded to call the police. The virtual assassin was apprehended by the authorities and jailed for illegally accessing a computer, and manipulating on-line data. The perpetrator could be facing a five year prison sentence or a fine of up to $5,000.

The Woman was quoted as saying ” I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry.”

I personally think she jumped the gun she could have suggested on-line counseling, or maybe an on-line trip for them to rekindle their romance. It’s a shame that so many on-line marriages are failing now.

Sure Bob thanks for your incite and frankness. Thanks for filling me in on what the actual criminal charge was; which I was already aware of, and had properly documented in the Blog entry that you are downing on. I think if you had taken the time to read the yahoo link in the entry you would have seen that they included the same comedic spin on the story. Also take a look at what section of the Blog it has been submitted to; the humor section, not news. We do not in any way consider this story legitimate news, just one of the obscure odd little story’s we like to document. None the less thank you for your candor.

Lol logging into someones account isn’t hacking. I reckon he gave her his pw so she could help him with the game or some dumb crap in which case it’s all his own fault. And also, it’s just a character in a game… why is everyone so worked up about it. I’m sure Maple Story could even retrieve the character. He changes his password – problem SOLVED. What kind of idiots would jail someone for deleting an account on some dumb game? Just what is the world coming to?

The reason why some people get so worked up is because it takes awhile to build up those characters. If you make a level 80 character in warcraft wouldnt you hate to see your hard work and wasted time of life gone? Its like doing a essay you type the essay and suddenly its gone. Youd have to do it all over again except this has more weight. Friends lost rares gone… and depending on popularity alot of things could go down the drain. Ignoring personal emotions the charge seems reasonable. Hacking any account may be email or game is a agenst the law. Messing with someones PROPERTY his character is a law. Of course I dont know the jappanese law system but she broke american laws.
