Nexus One gets an ad on Google’s Homepage

Yesterday marked the unveiling of Google’s branded Android phone. The Nexus One had been rumored for some time but was officially unveiled yesterday. Described as the “superphone,” Google unveiled the phone at a live press conference, and has since been advertising it in force.

The Nexus One ads have been popping up everywhere, including YouTube’s homepage. Today it has secured an advertising spot that is possibly the most coveted in all the Internet, the Google Homepage. The Nexus One appeared on Google’s homepage following its launch, and the ad reads “Experience Nexus One,” and includes a link to its homepage.

Ads show up very rarely on the Google’s famous minimalist homepage. Advertising has appeared on the homepage before (for the Droid and G1) but this is the first ad they have done since its redesign.

Foursquare goes international

Foursquare logo girlIf you are a Foursquare fan but have felt left out for living in a small town or city, we have good news for you! The New York based location-sharing service has made a much anticipated improvement. The site has officially gone global, and you can now use it from anywhere in the world.

CNET is reporting that Foursquare will now allow you to check in with your mobile phone from anywhere. Originally the site was only available to people in urban areas. Individuals living in smaller cities and towns were left out, as the service only allowed you to select a number of designated cities.

The global upgrade is currently in a soft launch phase, and has not yet been made available to all Foursquare users. Eventually all users will be able to type in their location and get set up. The move will be a much needed boost the site needs to compete against Gowalla, which is a similar location based service.

Ping.fm currently averages 200,000 updates a day, and Seesmic is hoping their integration will help them reach their goal of 1 million updates day for 2010.
