In an effort to link printed materials to digital materials in a simpler way, Microsoft has announced a new technology known as Tag.
Rather than have individuals type a link into a browser, Microsoft hopes to link printed materials to that of digital ones through Tag. Showing up as a bar code, any individual can be linked instantly to on-line data pertaining to said bar code by simply pointing a smartphone camera at it.
With the boom of the iPhone and the Android, it was a smart choice on the part of Microsoft to allow smartphone users to view the Tag data via their phones. You are able to start using Tag now by downloading a small bit software to your phone.
A number of smartphones are able to download the Tag software, including BlackBerry and iPhone. You can currently find Microsoft Tags on Magazines, and eventually products, business cards, and even outdoor advertising.
