The growing number of concerns and distrust in Facebook’s privacy policies have reached critical mass, as today marks Quit Facebook Day. The event involves a portion of Facebook users who are banning together and stagging an official exodus from the site in protest.
The quit Facebook initiative was born weeks ago in response to the site’s questionable privacy policies. Concerns and frustration over Facebook’s less than transparent stance on user data has motivated many critics and users alike to quit the site.
So far only 30,000 are currently committed to quitting Facebook, a drop in the bucket compared to 400,000 users. The number, however, is continually growing and the Facebook exodus may be much more effective in sending a message about online privacy policy.
What do you think? Are you planning on quitting Facebook today? Is privacy one of your top concerns when joining a social media site? Let us know what you think.
