Adobe moving forward with HTML 5

Yesterday at the Google I/O conference, Adobe announced the release of the HTML 5 pack for designers and developers. The Adobe HTML 5 pack is available now via a free upgrade for Adobe Dreamweaver CS5. It will allow developers to create and publish content in HTML 5 language.

The announcement comes just days after Adobe released an ad campaign criticizing Apple for not allowing Flash on the iPhone or iPad devices. The ad was launched in response to an open letter from Steve Jobs, in which he laid out the reasons why Apple doesn’t like Flash. Jobs stated that “Flash was designed for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers.”

Since then Adobe has become a sort of advocate for HTML5, and are now beginning to incorporate it into their software. The “HTML5 pack” will offer a host of new features to Dreamweaver users. One of them includes hinting for HTML5 and CSS3 capabilities to allow use of new HTML5 tags. WebKit engine updates, and improvements for audio & video support in Dreamweaver CS5’s Live View are also included in the new edition.
