Rumor: iPhone 5 to see September 7 launch date

More rumors are afoot surrounding the iPhone 5 and its elusive launch date. This time around, Japanese news provider Kodawarisan suggests that Apple is planning a media event for September 7.

Iphone5 rumorsKodawarisan noted that this is around the time Apple typically introduces its latest iPod innovations. However, considering Apple missed its usual summer launch date for the iPhone, many are speculating that the Cupertino-based technology firm will combine the two events into one.

The Japanese tech publication went on to assert that both the next-generation iPod and iPhone will be available by the end of September or in early October.

CNET added that Apple might also be planning to introduce a new free iCloud app for the iPhone as well, though the Kodawarisan report didn’t mention anything about Apple’s upcoming digital locker service.

While rumors regarding the iPhone 5 are abundant, confirmed details are anything but. Earlier this month, MacRumors asserted that the upcoming smartphone would include a new design that may feature an enlarged screen and an elongated home button. However, any details at this point are merely speculation.
