Obama holds next town hall meeting …on LinkedIn

Well, I guess it makes sense. With millions of people looking for jobs on LinkedIn, why not hold the next town hall meeting on LinkedIn’s website?

To discuss job creation, Obama will hold a forum hosted by LinkedIn in Mountainview. Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, describes the meeting as, “an invitation from the White House to people from across the country for an open exchange on [one] of our most pressing objectives as a nation: the creation of jobs and economic opportunity.”

He will address the nation with a plan to put America back to work, allowing the LinkedIn community to focus on job creation and various economical issues.

This is not the first time the President has sought out social media to advocate while engaging the public on various political issues. Back in July Obama became the first President to use Twitter as a way to answer questions about the state of the economy and jobs; you can also follow Obama’s Foursquare to see where the President is checking in.

He wrote on his website, “We’ll start by doing something unprecedented: coordinating millions of one-on-one conversations between supporters across every single state, reconnecting old friends, inspiring new ones to join the cause, and readying ourselves for next year’s fight.”

Will social media be enough for Obama to be re-elected? According to Gallup’s latest tracking poll his approval rate is a mere 41%.
