Google officials don’t use Google+, so wait, who does?

Alright, so Google+ seemed cool in the beginning with its circle features, and … hangouts… and, well, let’s face it, Google+ isn’t as great as it seemed when the social networking service was released as exclusive. And we know this for a fact, because if Google officials aren’t even using the site, that says a lot about how the rest of the social networking world utilizes Google+.

As Mashable puts it, one of the most important rules in software is to eat your own dogfood, a term used widely among companies, usually software companies, making an analogy that they should use the product they make or produce to justify it as legitimate.

Based on a postoriginating by Michael DeGusta, he analyzed the senior Google+ staff’s site usage and even created a colorful chart showing how often or how little each Google affiliate posted between the June 28 launch and this past Monday, October 3.

DeGusta even compared the Google+ staff usage to that CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, who actually spends most of his day on Facebook, and CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo, really does tweet every single day. CEO Larry page of Google+ on the other hand? About 7 public posts in his Google+ career.

The statistics? Shocking. The only two associates with active accounts were Vic Gundotra (SVP of social) and Sundar Pichai (SVP of Chrome). Minimal usage was seen by Google+’s co-founder Sergey Brin, Susan Wojcicki (SVP of Ads), and well, Larry Page’s mere 7 posts.

The rest of the team either had no account or an active account with no posts ever, including Alan Eustace, SVP of search, who just started posting yesterday, maybe in spite of the initial post.

These statistics were however taken from public posts; the executives could have more posts for their private circles. But the bottom line is, if Google+ was all that it was cracked up to be, you would think the senior staff would be a little more engaged—don’t you think?
