Hello HP redesign!

HP is undergoing some serious brand redesign—perhaps something they could have issued a while ago, but they are making big changes nevertheless.

The company hired Moving Brands, an award-winning branding company with studios all over the world in London, Zurich, San Francisco, and Tokyo to help create their new logo. Moving Brands’ aim is to “redefine branding by setting new standards of creativity for a moving world.”

For any organization that has undergone a brand overhaul, it’s not easy, especially for a renowned company like HP that’s brand has been sort of embedded into our heads over the years.

The proposed design would be sort of abstract—gearing away from the previous blue and white circle logo, and moving towards a metallic, minimalistic, four-line design, with HP’s infamous italicized text.

Moving Brands created a video of their vision for Hewlett-Packard’s future and you can take a peak here.

It is rumored that BlackBerry is also “[planning] to overhaul its communication strategy in a bid to rebuild its brand equity after a service blackout last month left millions of BlackBerry customers without e-mail or instant messages.”

With this crazy market full of different names and brands, design is key. And when it comes to HP’s latest proposition, we like what we see!
